Employment Opportunities at Xact
WHY
CHOOSE XACT?
Xact is proud to be able to offer employees an innovative and
exciting workplace. With a team of just over 30 Xact has a
supportive and laughter-filled environment where everyone's potential as
individuals is maximised and developed into successful teams.
As well as full time staff Xact also takes on
university students on a part time basis allowing them to put the theory
they learn at university into practice. The students help to keep Xact
up to date with changes in their particular fields, and Xact provides
the real life experience you don't get at a learning institution. It's a
win-win situation for both!
University theory + Work Experience at
Xact = SUCCESS!
Not only does Xact give university students
practical experience but they also operate an apprentice
scheme for those wanting to get into the printing industry. Xact
has one current apprentice, Justin Luisi and another, Rory Hyslop, who
has just completed his apprenticeship.

XCELLENT
INTERNS AT XACT
Xact’s strong focus on innovation and
quality led to the employment of a marketing student - Grace Zhao from
the University of Auckland. Grace was employed on a part time basis
while she completed her degree majoring in Marketing.
This arrangement
proved to be beneficial for both Xact and Grace. Xact gained the fresh
new ideas of a recent graduate whilst Grace was given the opportunity to
put into practice all the theory she had learnt from University.
After providing
Xact with a marketing plan which she put into action, Grace graduated
and moved on to work full time at an IT company where she was
responsible for marketing and sales. Having proved herself in this role
Grace headed over to Europe in search of a bigger challenge…and she
found it!
Grace is now working
as a sales and marketing executive in central London for a newly set up
Business Incubator, she is having the time of her life in a job she
loves and believes that Xact gave her the skills she needed to help
further her career.
Shu-Han Sophia Chen,
a Masters student also in Marketing from the University of Auckland,
followed in Grace’s footsteps and took over the marketing position at
Xact when Grace left. Like Grace, Sophia was given the chance to put
the theory into practice whilst at Xact.
During
her time at Xact Sophia worked very closely with the management team to
bring new developments in the marketing industry to the organisation. In
doing this she used her excellent marketing skills to further develop
and implement the marketing program initially set up by Grace.
Sophia completed her
Masters Degree by handing in her research thesis in December 2005.
After graduating Sophia joined New Zealand Steel Ltd as a full time
Marketing Analyst where she is currently enjoying the challenges and
opportunities of working in a larger company’s Marketing Department.
New Zealand Steel Ltd can expect great things from Sophia!
After Sophia’s
departure Xact decided to shake things up a bit and employed both a
Marketing student, and a Research and Development student to continue the
company’s marketing program.
Darren Alvares, an
Engineering student took on the role of Research and Development while
Shameem Mussa, a Law and Commerce student continued the Marketing
program.
Darren has now
finished his Engineering degree and is completing his Masters
Degree. His experience at Xact has been both challenging and
rewarding. During his time he developed many R&D initiatives
including developing a series of specialised brochures that have proved
to be a invaluable tool to both the sales and marketing
team.
Once
again, Xact decided to try something a little different after Darren
left and employed a Design Student. Joseph Nelson, a final year
Bachelor of Design student from Massey University joined the team at
Xact and his excellent design skills were put to use in both
Sales and Marketing.
Like
Darren, Shameem also completed her University studies at the end of
2007. She will be admitted to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor
in July 2008. After this, inspired by Grace, Shameem is heading to
the UK on her OE. Shameem has learnt a phenomenal amount at Xact
and knows the experience gained will no doubt provide a kick start to
her career - whether in Marketing or Law.
Samantha
Almeida took over the Marketing from Shameem. Sam completed conjoint Science and Commerce degree at the University of
Auckland in 2008 and like Grace and Shameem, armed with her experience
at Xact Samantha also headed to the UK to work.
Courtney
McConnochie is the current Xact intern. She is in her fourth year of a
conjoint commerce and science degree, due to graduate in 2010. Xact are confident that
Courtney will prove to be another
invaluable part of the Xact team.
Xact
wishes all the very best to Grace, Sophia, Darren, Shameem and Samantha.
They have done extremely
well for themselves and their Xact family is very proud of them!
