Minimise Waste Program
Xact Labelling Ltd would like
to be the pioneer in our industry in terms of minimising waste from
self-adhesives and being sustainable. Furthermore we would like to
improve all facets of our operations including emissions, water & solid waste and energy
consumption.
This particular program is designed
and initially implemented by Darren Alvares (Product Development
Support) with help from Chris Mills (Operations Manager) and other employees in the
manufacturing and office departments.
We understand that
maintaining growth and development in a business is contingent on a good
environment and therefore the reduction of waste. The self-adhesive
industry in New Zealand has be instilled with the idea that "label waste
must go to landfill". We intend to eliminate, recycle, reuse and
minimise as much of our self-adhesive label waste as possible.
Climate change
is all over the media with greenhouse gas emissions and energy
consumption being the major cause of this. Even though we can proudly
say we have minimal greenhouse emissions, we know there is always room
for improvement in our energy consumption. That is why at Xact we intend
to also use innovation to minimise our energy use. We are working with
Auckland City Council, Green Office and ARC to design and implement easy and
lasting solutions.
